      Disappointed User
I have been using Ritek/Ridata DVD-R and DVD+RW disks for several months and have been very satisfied. Not a bad burn yet. I was excited to order additional DVD+RW disks for their added versatility. My previous experience with the DVD+RW disks was with shiny top surface vs. matte surface with this order. I don't know if that makes any difference as the recording surface on both has the same appearance.

Disappointment resulted quite quickly. As a previous poster indicated, the disks all had a small ridge of scratched surface around the outer perimeter of the recording surface. In my case, the disks would appear to record correctly. It was not until I tried to access the files that it would generate an error. The disk was unreadable. I had at least 4 bad writes in the first 10 disks. It seems that it is only a problem with almost full disks. Partially used disk didn't seem to have a problem (in an unscientific sampling!). I will try a replacement order and if that one exhibits that same scratched area, I guess a refund will be the only option. Too bad because Ritek is usually an excellent brand that I have had good luck with, and the price was too good to pass up.

Ordered July4 ship date was Sept 11
Ordered July 4 Ridata DVD+RW 4x 50 spindle, with the super saver shipping. Ship date was Sept 11, I was hoping it was a type-o, but I checked on July 11 and it still was not shipped. 2nd thing was that the order changed to DVD-RW, which I knew was not what I ordered as my burner only works with DVD+RW. Of course I could not find a number or email to call so I canceled the order.

      Scracthed discs abound
Received item in securely packaged box and was surprised to find that about half the stack had damaged discs. The outside perimeter (about .25 to .50 inches) of the damaged discs were were noticealby scratched. I just tried burning and reading a test disc (using Nero DVD Speed) and it failed with a read error. Hopefully, the rest of the stack won't be as bad.

Don't know who is to blame for the damage: manufacturing or shipping. Hopefully, this was just a bad "set", but I'll be buying my discs "locally" from now on.

      not very good
I got the first package and there were visible defects around the edges of all 25 discs. The discs would burn fine but then freeze and skip near the end when played. I returned it for a 2nd spindle and experience the same thing.

Detailed info on latest discs from Amazon
      (Please read entire review)
Some reviews posted here are from people who did not purchase this item from Amazon. The product lot number is totally different than the current stock of Amazon. The product lot that Amazon was/(is?) selling had/(has?) a large number of defective discs. People who bought their discs retail, and gave a review of good quality, isn't a good indicator of the discs you will get. Based upon the people who purchased their discs from Amazon and gave reviews, it seemed/(seems?) likely you will get a defective spindle. This may not be the case anymore.

      (PLEASE READ ON)

I purchased a spindle in May 2004, and it contained about 70% defective DVDs. I returned it to Amazon in July as a defective product. They took the product back, even though it was past 30 days, and they paid for return shipping. (You won't get that great customer service at a retail store).

Amazon told me there would be a slight delay on my replacement discs because they were changing their supplier. I received my replacement discs about 10 days later. After inspecting the discs, I found no visible physical defects. I've burned about 10 discs and have had no failures. It would appear that the new supplier has corrected the defective product problems.

In conclusion, I would recommend this product from Amazon.

      Excellent quality discs
I've been using Ritek (Ridata) +RW discs in my Philips DVDR80 dvd recorder for over 6 months. I've recorded approximately 200 of these discs with no "coasters." For those of you who don't know, many name-brand companies "repackage" Ritek discs under their own brand names at a higher cost to the consumer. Ridata is just Ritek's retail "brand" name.

      BUY IT NOW without worry
Bought 75 8X dvd+r. Burn all successfully. only takes with NEC-2500A with herrie modified version BETA 5 version 1.07 in less than 20 min read time and 8 minutes write time.

      GOOD LUCK

GREAT discs but you may need a firmware update
These discs are great! At first, my NEC 2500a would only recognize these discs as 4X, but I upgraded my firmware to Herrie's v1.07 firmware and the discs burn fine at 8X now. SO before you bash on the media, check to see if you have the latest firmware and that your burner supports the full potential of these discs.

      great dvd+r
I have backed up about 50 movies of my collection with ridata dvd+r 8x dvd's and have'nt experienced any problems. As for the write speed i have seen any difference between the ritek dvd+r and any other brand i have tried, the burn time difference comes into play when burning a movie that needs to be heavily compressed. You will not find a deal like this anywhere else (70cents per disk for a 50pack), (i searched high and low on all the major deal sites, check ebay if you don't believe it) so jump in you won't regret it!!!!
