Be careful on the bugs of this calculator
Ok, this calculator looks great value with the amont of features, but it also have a very serious bug. The Store and recall function will give you a wrong answer if you do something like this:1 STO A2 STO BRCL A + RCL BThe answer depends on a previous calculation. As a summary, buy this calculator only if you think that money is more important than your projects, grades etc.

Low cost high performance.
This calculator was recommended in my undergrad engineering lab courses. This calculator served well in preparing for reports in the courses. Low price but very sophisticated. A must for students taking lab courses. ALENCIOUS SHU ZEE LO is WRONG!

ALENCIOUS SHU ZEE LO is WRONG!!
I just got my fx300w and was trying to replicate the bug ALENCIOUS reported. I found actually he/she misunderstood the functions. By RCL you only see what's stored in those alpha memory spots. If you wanna use them to calculate, you do not need to recall and cal( this will actually become what in ANS calculate with the last alpha u enter. The correct way to do calculation is just press Alpha and the spot u want to cal. In ALENCIOUS's example, it would be 'Alpha A + Alpha B', and that's absolutely correct.
Overall, I think this calculator is [inexpensive], convinient and powerful. I like it more than my TI-82 and also more than the new casio MS series(fx-300ms) :). Enjoy!

Best calc for middle school math
I have used many calculators through my years but this is the best simple, multi-function calculator. It can do basic functions with scientific mode and insert variables into equations. It has many features including a great 2 line display so that you can review the equation you typed in and look at the answer all at one time. It includes exponets, and the variable exponet key, spuare roots and cube roots, fractions sin, cos, and tan functions with memory and paranthesis among the basic calculator functions. I prefer the Casio to the Texas Instruments because this calculator is much easier to understand in button layout. I do not recommend this if your child is about to go to high school because when you go into high school, you will be required to buy a graphing calculator for geometry and such. Schools often require the Texas Instruments Model
TI-83 which is very pricy and has so many functions that its mind-boggling. If you need an ideal calculator for algebra or pre algebra, this is the calculator for you.

great for math fans but with really poor instructions
The Casio fx115 calculator comes in several 'flavors'. The 'w' and 'MS' are the most commonly seen for sale. Other than cosmetic changes the MS has a 'SOLVE' feature which is very limited in what it can solve and very slow. This calculator holds itself out as 'algebraic' but as many calculators which say that this one has a great deal of postfix, or RPN, in it. The 'hard edges' of RPN are smoothed out, however making this calculator quite a simple one to use given the number of its functions. The fx series in general [mine is an MS] is an excellent high school and collage calculator although it has no graphing features. The keyboard is well laid out and the keys themselves hard plastic. No. There is no way in this universe that this will replace my trusty Hewlett Packard RPN calculator [which costs two and half times more, by the way] but I carry this Casio, as well, because many are not comfortable with postfix [RPN]. It is hard, and most likely against some law, to claim one calculator is a copy of another but as I use this I 'feel' a 'crossbreeding' of Hewlett Packards 20s and 32Sii. Its lacking the HPs solid feeling, though. Still a dandy bit of equipment although with the poorest and most unreadable instruction sheet I have ever encountered in a calculator of this class [and I collect them].

Cassio vs. Sharp
I have purchased within the last two weeks both the Casio fx-115MS and the Sharp EL-506VB calculators. If you enter (21)2 in both calculators and then press the equal key, the Casio will display "Syntax Error" and the Sharp will display "Error 1.". Why is an error message displayed in both calculators? Does this mean that there is the same "bug" in both calculators?

On the other hand, if you enter 2(21) in both calculators and then press the equal key, both calculators will generate 42 in their respective display areas. It must be that each calculator's design is such that both do not recognize an "operator" (addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division) when a number enclosed in parentheses is immediately followed by another number.

If you enter (21)2, both calculators recognize it as an error in "syntax" or rules by which either unit can calculate or perform an "operation." You did not enter an operator so the calculator cannot perform any calculation. In the first case, (21)2, no operation (multiplication) is recognized by either calculator and as a result, both units generate the "error" message. In the second case, 2(21), both calculators recognize the "operator" (multiplication) and performs the operation to arrive at the correct answer, 42.

Nevertheless, both the Sharp and the Casio recognizes the "order of operation." For example, if you enter the expression (2 +3)2 and then press the equal key, you will again see the "error" message displayed by both calculators. However, if you enter (2 + 3) x 2, you will see the correct answer displayed by both calculators, that is, 10. It is evident that any number or expression enclosed in parentheses as the first entry which is then followed by a number will generate the "error" message.

I just tried entering (2 + 3)2 on the scientific calculator that comes with Windows XP Home edition. When I pressed the enter key, the display remained at "2." This means that the computer did not recognize any "operator" after (2 + 3). If you enter "(" then "2" then "+" then "3" then ")", you see immediately that the result of the operation is 5. Go on and enter "2" and press the equal key, and you see that nothing happens because you did not enter any operator (multiplication) after 5. You are stuck at 2. While the calculator in Windows will not generate an "error" message on the one hand, both the Sharp and Casio will to let you know that you have violated the "syntax" or rules used by either calculator. Remember, a calculator is just a dumb paper weight and it won't do anything for you until you tell it exactly what to do. However, both the Sharp and Casio will perform various calculations for you but will only follow the "syntax" or rules incorporated in their respective designs.

One feature on the Sharp that I really like is the fact that each numeral or expression you enter is displayed in the lower line of the two line display before you enter an operator. This allows you to see and make sure you are entering the correct data. Once you enter the correct data and follow it with some type of operator, the data you entered appears on the upper line of the display area. This allows you to "double check" all entries before you press an operator or equal key. The Casio fx-115MS on the other hand shows all data entered on the upper line first just as you enter it in the calculator.

I like both calculators equally well, and both have their advantages and disadvantages. But the advantages and disadvantages spring mostly from user preference. For me though, the Sharp EL-506VB has the edge because it comes with more thorough and user friendly documentation explaining each function more thoroughly than the Casio fx-115MS. So for five dollars more the Sharp is worth it.

The ... Casio graphing calculator also looks like a good investment and seems to come with a very adequate booklet of about 150 to 200 pages. That will most likely be my next calculator.

Small, cool, OK picture quality
I admit, I bought the thing because of the cool factor. And yes, you will get people gawking at this gadget in public. And I guess I knew going in that it was just for fun pictures, nothing serious.

Given that, it performs well. But yes, the shutter slows way down in low light causing more blurry pictures than I'd like. And the flash is only good for a few feet (up to 6ft according to the specs). But if you can learn to live with its shortcomings, it's a fun little gadget.

It has many very useful functions like white balance and exposure compensation, all within its very intuitive menu system. And you can customize the joystick to control a given feature during recording (flash mode, exposure, white balance).

I thought the tiny joystick would be a problem with my big thumb, but it's not a problem once you get used to it.

Digital zoom is fairly useless with a 2 megapixel camera; just blows things up and makes them blurry.

The built-in memory won't hold very much, so you pretty much need an extra memory card.

All in all, a fun toy that would be a lot more fun at $200. But if you must have it (and I did), go out and get one!

Extremely slick camera! Fun and big wow factor with friends
I've been using this camera for a little over two months now and I have to say I love it. It's extremely easy to use and takes great quaility pictures.

pros.
very fast startup time - you can start shooting within about 1 second after hitting the power button.

very quick review time for recents pictures - easily scan through your photos quickly and delete on the fly.

thumbstick is easy to use, very intuitive - i never once picked up the manual. just used the 'menu' button or moved the thumbstick to control all features.

upgradable - i added a 64 meg sd ram card in addition to the 12 meg onboard.

requires no software - just plug it in the cradle and turn it on and windows will instantly see it as another drive!

LIGHT AND SMALL!!! - it's the size of a credit card!! fits in a shirt pocket with tugging down on your shirt. so small, the wow factor on this thing is great!

great screen quality - a generous 1.5" screen on a camera this small.

OVERALL - just an excellent camera well worth the money!!

overall - well worth the investment for web and family and fun photos. will take up to a 1600x1200 image with no problem. fun camera all around

great battery life - no joke, i took over 150 pictures with flash each time before i got low on the battery. it charges quickly too! and you can turn off the screen if you don't want to waste battery life.

cons
no optical zoom...the digital zoom is worthless but who cares. it's tiny!

must use cradle to charge - which is kind of a hassle but the battery life is good so it's not a big deal.

Well thought out design
I bought this camera around Christmas time and I have absolutely loved it. I needed a point and shoot digital that I wouldn't have to think about adjusting, and this camera is perfect. It has the little signs of being designed well: really fast start up time, very quick shutter response, it retains settings on shutdown (my first camera chraged the flash all the time and ate batteries like there was no tomorrow), and the list goes on. It has the feel of a well thought-out product, the way something like an ipod does. I highly recommend it!

Good in size, bad in quality.
when i just bought it, its compactable size seemed to be its biggest advantage. however, its battery life isn't that good as it could only last for at most 2,3 days. sometimes, lesser than a day if many pictures were to be taken. also, its metal finish ain't that good as it is scratchable easily. Not good if you were prepared to have it with you for the rest of you life.thus, i find that only its size and mp3 function is a big plus for this little camera, without the fact of its poor quality of pictures. but hey, wad can you expect from a 2 megapixel camera...

great product
I have this camera/MP3 player for a month now and I take it anywhere. the most usable feature for me is the MP3 player !
the camera is for fun and play.
I like to take lot of pictures and taking an expensinve camera in my pocket is not an option, so when I saw exilim I was amazed. this was what I was looking for and finding that it could be am MP3 player was a big bonus. later I found out that it was the other way around.
after recieving this camera, I started download MP3 from the internet and finally I had time to listen to the kind of music that I like, and not what you get on the radio or in music stores, so a whole new world has been open for me. by the way, the ear plugs are great too and you get a controller too.
the pictures are great, I work in many factories so I take pictures of the machines that I work on and the lighting are usually very bad, but on maximum resolution the pictures are great and the color definition is great too, I did not use even once a color enhance filter on the images.
so, if you like multimedia, this is a must!

very cute camera.
I purchased this camera instead of a higher quality camera because of its size and its functions. The mp3 player part of it is awesome and the size of it is very convenient. its a great camera, although the quality of the pictures arent that great. i recommend this camera for people looking to take everyday pictures, but if you're looking for quality, this camera might not satisfy you. i bought a 256 memory card with it, and it allows me to have as many things on my camera as i desire. great design very stylish.. =]

Far better than a TI...
Simply put the Casio 9850GB Plus is the best performace over price value out there. Though many schools have TI centric curriculum, I've found I have an even easier time than the TI owning students because of the Casio's straightforward interface. I highly recommend this calculater, it's easy to use, as fast (or faster in my expierence) in graphing sine functions when compared to TI's, and the price is unbeliveable (I got mine for $49). My advice, go against the crowd, get a Casio. You'll thank me later.

Best Buy Graphic Calculator
I needed a graphing calculator for a math course I'm taking late in life. Everyone said go Ti. When comparing the functions of both this Casio and the $150.00 Ti, I found them to be capable of the same things. With a rebate, I only spent $40.00 for this one and it does all I need to do. If you can handle the little differences in operation between Casio and the Ti that the professor probably has, save some money. The color display makes the graphs much easier to see. Highly recommend this calculator.

Great Calculator
I bought this calculator before i enetered the 9th grade. Everyone in my class had the Texas Instruments TI 83 so i wanted to be different so i bought the CFX-9850GB Plus. It was the best desicion of my mathemtics life. Aftewr my friends saw the features and the user friendly menu they also decided to buy one. It has more features than the TI 83 and is easier to use. It is a bargain at the price it is being offered at. Even if you already have a graphing calculator i suggest buying one ASAP.

This thing is great.
If you're looking for an inexpensive PDA to help organize your life, and don't need things like full color screens and wireless e-mail, look no further. I wanted a something to help keep me organized, but didn't want to spend hundreds on a bunch of high-tech toys I didn't need. The Cassiopeia PV-S400Plus Pocket Viewer is simple to use and a great value for the money. I read some reviews here complaining of it using up batteries quickly. I don't know where they're getting that. I bought one of these seven months ago and haven't had to change the batteries once. Highly recommended to anyone who needs an inexpensive, no bells and whistles organizer.

A Small Price To Pay For A Good PDA
I've had the Casio Cassiopeia Pocket Viewer for some time now and have found it to be a PDA worthy of rivaling any Royal brand organizer and can surpass any Sharp or other brand name organizer (under $100) I've seen out in the market. Among its many features, includes a calendar, scheduler (complete with To-do list, reminders, appointments, etc.), expense manager (which can calculate expenses by payment or expense type from particular dates), conversion calc, two games, and memo. In addition, it includes a Quick Memo feature which enables you to simply write out what you need to remember. You can also create a screensaver which briefly appears every time you turn on the Pocket Viewer from this feature. I especially like the great backlighting on this PDA. Also, I enjoy the Pocket Sheet feature which enables you to create your own mini spreadsheets. I've found it particularly useful for keeping track of class and textbook reading assignments. Apparently, you can also download Excel documents from your PC into your Pocket Viewer and vice versa, although I haven't tried it myself yet. You can also download other documents (games, etc.) from the Casio website by installing the free software that comes with your Pocket Viewer onto your PC. So overall, I'd say this PDA is great for anyone who wants the feel of a PDA (this PDA is actually more slimmer and easy to take along with you than most regular PDAs I've seen)--that is easy to use and has some good features on it-- without having to spend $100s of bucks for.

take your desktop with you
Three months ago, I went out and bought an expensive PDA. I returned it after one week because I did not find it to be a very good value. I found the PV-S400Plus on sale for peanuts just recently. It is a VERY good value and I have only had it for less than 48 hours. I'm considering getting a few more as a gift for my family. Here is what I like about it:

1)Syncs very well with Outlook (contacts, calendar, to-do)
2)Nice text sync program
3)The finance program looks simple and efficient (although I don't use it)
4)Pocket sheet is supposed to sync with excel although I still have not gotten that to work.
5)Cool Chess program and other games!

For what you are paying, and the value this delivers, you should have no complaints. You could pay 20 times more for something with better connectivity, storage capacity, and features, but that's what desktops are for. This device is small and synchronizes well with Outlook and Act! Buy one of these and take your desktop with you.

PhotoLover from AL
I have used this camera for couple of months now and I am quite pleased with it, though I am dissapointed that you can not buy the charger from the manifacturer separetly. I have lost the charger and I can not charge the battery. I have to carry an external battery unit to use the camera which really dissapoints me. I do not understand why the manifacturer does not supply the charger for the unique battery that the camera comes with?????

Great camera for the money
I recently purchased this new 4mp camera from Casio. The historigram is great and the overall use of the equipment is easy to use. The pictures are high quality and given the internal "auto" settings, found it to be wonderfully simple and ready to shoot. It powers up quickly and is small enough to fit in your coat pocket. The only flaw is the movie mode, sound is not a component of this camera? I wish it was so everyone could see and hear my three angels on any email I wish to send. Thanks to Casio for meeting my digital needs, I will be a return customer for sure!!!!!!

Simple, Great Quality
Love this camera. Just point and shoot. No need to reread the manual if you don't use it for months. It has so many other capabilities that I forget to use that would make my pictures even better, but however you use it the photos come out great. The preprogrammed settings for different environments really, really works. The LCD display is amazingly clear. The battery door is a little fragile -- broke it and had to replace it, but other than that, this thing is rock-solid quality. For the other reviewer who lost the charger, they are available at www.pacparts.com
