You can really make great labels with this software! You can nearly hide pictures on the label, so it looks like it's bleeding through.
The 3d text can be twisted & manipulated many different ways. But there really isn't any tech support for it, when it doesn't work. Which is quite sad.
The full face labels are nice to have, & doesn't get in the way of play. Keep in mind that car cd players are different. Yours may not want a label of any kind!

Head and shoulders above other graphics programs
Having used 3 other major graphics programs extensively, I use Canvas 7 almost exclusively. It is by far the most capable and easiest to use of the lot. Stability, ease of use, capability and price were all major contributors to my decision. The problem with reviews of graphics programs is simply the subjectivity of the reviewer. (Mine included!) But in this case Canvas 7 is hands down the most powerful and easiest to use graphics program on the market. If you are a graphics pro or a home user, you'll never regret purchasing Canvas 7. Although I have never been able to afford my Porsche, I have the equivalent in graphics software.

Upgrade now and start enjoying your life...
If you already own Canvas 3, 5 or 6 you should upgrade now! Canvas 7 takes a major leap forward and for first time it enables you to work with bitmap and vector art like no other graphic program today. Imagine that you can apply normal bitmap filters to any object even vectors. Canvas 7 also features improved control over page layout and web graphics

Since I upgraded to Canvas 7 life have been fun. Because of Canvas 7's stability, speed and ease of use I can focus on my work instead of the program. That makes my life much more enjoyable and creative.

I recommend that you buy this upgrade today...

So so if you want simple drawings
I have used 7.0 SE on Win2KPro for about a year.
I really want an updated MacDraw program -- I don't need Canvas's fancy image manipulation features. For my usage, it's far too complex and difficult to use. It is also sometimes gives me a black screen on death, which is not so easy to do on Win2kPro.

I also find it difficult to paste its pictures into MSWord2K.
Sometimes the pictures don't print right. It may be a Microsoft bug, not a Canvas bug, but if you want seamless integration, be alert.

              Amazing...
Canvas Standard Edition is a great solution for the private Canvas user. It features amazing functionalities like special effects, drawing tools and the ability to use and manipulate both bitmap and vector art. The greatest thing about Canvas is that you in one single program can do same as in Photoshop, Illustrater and QuarkXpress - no other graphic program is able to provide you with the same complete graphic solution.

I have used Canvas for several years and it has made my life more effective and less frustrating - two qualities it is hard to find in any other software product. It also makes me more creative because I can focus on my work instead the program itself - it is so easy.

Life must be hard without Canvas...

              Move Over Adobe and Corel
One word: fantastic! Many software claim to be a graphics suite (i.e. CorelDRAW) but only Deneba Canvas is one. You can easily (really) draw, paint, publish to the Web with rollovers. The tools are top-notch and so is the technology. You can apply any image effects (including Photoshop plug-ins)to not only pictures but vectors as well (including text). You can create animated GIF, rollovers (terrific UI) and publish all to the Web in 3 steps and the output is the best I've seen (but requires latest browsers). I wish I had bought it earlier: I would have avoided a lot of frustration trying to use CorelDRAW and Photoshop. Two wishes: Deneba, please have some presets gallery for the advanced effects and please allow fills to be combined with 3D.

                Photoshop+Coreldraw+Illustrator...=Canvas
I've used Canvas 5 for three years and am using Canvas 7 now too. Since I don't read manuals except as a last resort, I love Canvas because alot of the features can be figured out with little help. It seems that I learn how to use this application for something new everytime I sit down to use it. Making greeting cards, meal calendars, web graphics, business cards, company logos, animations, and even keeping a journal. Many of the small features are wonderful too (like seeing each font in the font list as it actually would appear in type).

On top of Canvas program itself, the company (Deneba)has been very friendly and responsive to my questions and suggestions.

                Excellent App
I've been using Canvas since version 5 and upgraded to Canvas 7 around Christmas '99. This is an outstanding application. Working in Canvas 7, you can do just about anything - import and edit bitmapped images, create vector art and apply bitmap image filters to vector artwork. Everything remains completely editable. Exports to just about any format you need.

After using Canvas I find Illustrator and Freehand lacking. Canvas 7's transparency effects are first rate. You really won't believe what you can do with this feature. Makes what Illustrator 9 offers laughable, especially since Canvas has had vector transparency since version 6 came out two years ago.

And it comes in two flavors. One for pro users who need to generate color separations/postscript files and another version for home users who print to color inkjets or design web graphics.

Life must be hard without Canvas¿
Imagine if you could combine the functionalities of Photoshop, Illustrator and QuarkXpress in one single program, then you would have a truly unique graphic platform. This is however exactly what Deneba Canvas 7 is all about. You have full control every aspect off vector, bitmap, text, web and layout. You can even apply normal bitmap filters to any object with the use of SpriteLayer and SpriteEffects.

I have used Canvas 7 for some time now I can honestly say that if I ever have to choose between Canvas 7, Illustrator, Freehand, QuarkXpress or Photoshop I would take Canvas. It has made my life more effective and less frustrating - two qualities it is hard to find in any other software product. It also makes me more creative because I can focus on my work instead the program itself - it is so easy.

Life must be hard without Canvas...

                    user unfriendly
I am highly disappointed with CANVAS upgrades. I began using CANVAS since its 3.5.2 version and was happy to use it. Since then, the product has been upgraded several times increasing its difficulty of use with every upgrade! Amazingly, the files created by its own previous versions cannot be faithfully imported with newer versions! Importing and manipulating graphics and image files with CANVAS 6.0 is a difficult task. I kept on upgrading CANVAS (up to version 6.0) with the fond hope that Deneba will make CANVAS an easy and effective application. Immediately after I bought 6.0 version, Deneba came out with version 7.0! Apparently, every new version is released without sufficient in-house testing. CANVAS may be useful for a highly skilled and sophisticated graphics guru, but is certainly not for a person who would like to do simple image and graphics manipulation tasks. For me it has been a tremendous waste of time and money. Simple and cheaper applications like Graphics Converter and AppleWorks do an excellent job than Canvas.

How could someone call this a user unfriendly program?
Yes, Canvas IS a complex program, but that dosen't make it a bad program! It is complex for one good reason...It is the best drawing/graphics program made, and it HAS to be complex to perform the incredible affects it is able to do. Doing basic drawings and designing images is easy to do. It is only when you come into lighting affects and transparancy features that it becomes a little harder to use. (and then again, I STILL don't think it is hard to use! Just harder then normal drawing) After all, for every computer graphic I do, I use Canvas 6, and Photoshop to perform and render images. (Look, if you have Photoshop, this program is as easy to use as it.) Canvas is basically the same as Photoshop, only it is, as I said earlier, more for actually drawing the images. If you like Photoshop, then you will deffinately enjoy this program! By all means, anybody who is into graphics and web designing should have this program. It will make designing a whole lot easier and quicker. You won't regret getting this program! (I have yet to find a bug on the original Canvas 6, although I must say I haven't updated it with plug-ins. I have heard complaints that plug-ins will add some bugs to the program, and make it a little more confusing.) Even if Canvas 6 has been replaced by the new 7 version, it will always remain one of my favorite programs, and in years to come, will be looked at as a high-tech program. It's worth the price tag!
