Poor image quality
The ScanJet 7400C displayed abundant dithering patterns in many colours especially in dark areas. The 6300C line was way better in terms of image quality.

Scan Away
I read some of the reader's comments and, frankly, I'm not sure if they're talking about the same scanner.

The 7400c is large (it does accomodate 11x17 sheets so compact isn't one of it's features), takes a long time to initialize and warm up and still tends to be noisy but the reproductions are brilliant and scanning is a snap.

It sets up in nothing flat and if you can lift the cover and push a button, you can scan. That's it. You can e-mail, import into another program, etc. The software installs effortlessly and it's quite easy to figure out without reading the manual.

HP does not have a 1-800 number for customer support and that should be a mark against them. But, after a long wait, when you do get the staff on line, I've found them on different matters to be nothing short of patient, knowledgable and they always search until they find an answer.

One gripe I do have with the 7400c is: why couldn't they put an On/Off button on it? I can never understand why most HP scanners are designed without this feature. Most of their other products (printers, cameras, computers) have it so why leave it off a scanner?

But that's a small point when you consider that the 4700c scans quickly and easily with fantistic, quality, output.

Works fine for me!?!
I am a bit puzzled by the negative comments. I have had absolutely no trouble, and I have done hundreds of scans in the last tree or so months. Installation was flawless (after I found the unlock tab), and performance is far beyond my expectations. Color repro is the first I have not been able to distinguish from the original. It is much faster than the 6300 or 5100 I have. Benign and friendly. It does take a bit to warm at first.

I wish there were more reviews from others.

Horrible
We purchased one for our small office. Set up went smoothly, but it would hang in the middle of printing any job over 3 pages. The web site and user's manual had no description of these problems. The web site is particularly useless. 6 days after setting up the printer, the power went out. This printer never recovered, even though every computer in our office was unaffected. Don't waste your time or money.

Horrible Execution
It is not only Mac users who will want to throw this thing out the window. I had numerous errors using a G3 and G4 Mac running OS9, including printing and especially scanning, so I finally gave up and connected it to a PC running Win 98, only to experience about the same thing. Errors, system crashes, etc. I give this one star because as a copier and standalone fax it works fine. The software is abysmal, atrocious, etc., and I tried to get help on their website which is hopeless and then they take over 24 hours to respond to emails with no real help. I have a HP 4M+ which has been 100% reliable for ten years so I thought I was safe to stick with HP, but apparently they think in order to compete they have to churn out junk and then run and hide.

NOT Macintosh compatible
The HP LaserJet 3300 mfp printer is not Macintosh compatible. it is, I would like to see the circumstances that pass for the determination of "compatibility"

Some people have been waiting months for updates to drivers. HP's suggested workaround is to enable print-only functions by using Apple's newer Jaguar ppd. However the ppd that would enable (EN-able?, come on, DIS-able) the multiIfunction device to ONLY print is overwriten by HP's outdated pre-Jaguar ppd on installation. I have spent a month of weekends trying to get just a single print, on OS 10.2, to no beneficial result. I have gone from clean system installs (in order to recover overwritten ppd's) to the lastest releases of GIMP print and HPIJS and Foomatic printer drivers. LinuxPrinting.org suspects that HP is using an incompatible version of USB communications for printing to this device.

Operating while connected to an Mac OS 9 is (occasionally) possible, but HP states that the 3300 is incompatible with Apple's usb printer sharing, further thwarting attempts to set up an OS 9 shared usb printer and printing via LPR.
Note that any success with this printer on an OS X or mixed environment involves the addition of a network interface (3330 etc.) and not simply USB.

I am now (after 30 days) left to hope that Amazon will accept the the return of the HP Laserjet 3300 mfp for a device that renders toner on paper.

Shockingly high quality for a small price
There are lots of el-cheapo stock clip art collections out there that are plain awful... they show the top 5 pictures in their entire collection on the outside cover and the rest are garbage.

This is not the case with this collection. Super high quality studio shots of objects and people. The models do not appear to be professionals and in many instances seem to be grumpy or indifferent, so not many of the people are useful in different marketing situations.

The proprietary software that's included lets you search by a keyword or concept to find the photo or you can browse the high-quality book that's included to find what you're looking for. You can then export the image as a JPG for the web or as a hi-res image for print with a transparency mask for Photoshop.

The objects are top notch quality and can be used by advertising agencies or individuals who need high-quality royalty free photos. Not everything on earth is photographed, but they sure did cover a lot of territory with this set.

      Do not hesitate to buy!
This is an excellent collection of photos, not the useless vector clip art cartoons you find in some collections. The search engine is first class and the program as a whole is exceptionally easy to use and well thought out. No more searching through books to find the image you want. When I first bought it I wanted to really test it so I typed in "Ferrari". Before I could finish typing ten Ferrari's were ready for me to use. This is a great easy to use program that is fast and painless. Don't worry this is a no brainer-Just do it!

If you are in Marketing/Advertising GET THIS PRODUCT!!!
You must get this product if you want to come out of the depths of '80's Clip Art, Bad design is staring at us in the face every day, with this product, even the worst designs can at least look professional. Thanks for making it so easy!

jam packed with a whole lot of nothin'
I am a professional graphic designer and thought I could use some of the graphics offered here. The images are so redundant (i.e. for surfing: one guy in wet suit in 20 different positions). The images that I would like to use have obviously been taken from somewhere else (not "taken" or purchased by Hemera) and the company has literally mutilated the photo so as not to have to deal with copyright issues but making it entirely useless to the end user. I will never by anything from Hemera again. This product promises a lot and delivers very little and the company is getting rich on a silly, useless stock program with good promotion and packaging.

Mostly old and out of date images but some decent as well
Images of people and computers are really dated. Forget using any of the technology related images unless you want to picture stuff thats over 6 years old. If you need basic images of flowers and animals this CD will work for you.

        Nice but sneaky.
I think I am happy with these, but I am not sure. The software is very strange and you cannot use the images without it. It works, but I would rather be able to catalog the images with something less clunky.

The catalog contains both vol 1 and vol 2 image previews, which in one sense is good because you know what is available, but is annoying because the images you really want to use cost another ...!

        Not worth the price
I thought the graphics were weak and seemed limited to either too cutesy, cartoony stuff or overly fluffy granny stuff. I did like the selection of fonts and headlines, though. I am still trying to figure out why I'd bought this one and not just gone for the clip art programs. Based on the good reviews it got, I thought it would be as good as The Print Shop 11 which has better graphics for all age groups.

        New Mac user
Just bought a Mac after using PCs for 20 some years. Not much choice in software! This program is easy to use and is fairly versatile - about on a par with the Windows application called "Card Studio" and not quite as versatile as "Print Artist". Was able to produce my annual Christmas card in a rather short time after receiving the software this PM. Menus and commands are intuitive and there is a better than average "manual" in the box. If you have fun making cards you can enjoy this application.

        It's Great!
I've tried most, if not all, of the greeting card programs for the PC. Now that I'm a Mac user, I'm expecially pleased that there finally is such a good greeting card program for the Mac. This is a good complement to Nova Development's Print Explosion. The predesigned greeting cards in each program seem to be different. Between the two programs you can do a large number of "desktop publishing" projects. And, both programs are much easier to use than the high end desktop publishing programs used by professionals.
