Incompatible with HP Photosmart Software
I ran into a problem where the paper type selection was unavailble. Canon technical support was less than helpful. I figured out that the HP Photosmart software that's installed for my HP P1000 printer was causing the problem. After I exited the HP software in the system tray, the Canon printer began working fine. Canon's response was sometimes software is incompatible. I've found several reports on the web with people having the same problem, so Canon should know about it. The only reason I'm rating it as a 3 is because the picture quality when it actually prints from the PC is excellent. The results weren't quite as good printing directly from a Canon S200 camera; the picture wasn't as sharp.

Fun, Functional, and Surprisingly Versatile!
I own a Canon A70 digital camera and wanted a non-inkjet photo printer for lab-quality photos. The CP 300 exceeded all of my expectations. The 4x6 paper comes ready with post card formatting on the back for an absolutely perfect road trip tool! Just take the photo, print it in the car (the cp 300 comes with a battery pack!), slap a stamp on it, and toss it in a mailbox. Brilliant. Plus, the small credit card size photos are adorable and you can get the sticker kind (either full label or mini labels) which I anticipate will be even more fun. Tip: a business card holder is a perfect album for these little pics.

All of this you've heard before. What you may not know is that you can print more than just photos with your cp 300! I do a little graphic art on the side and have been able to make high quality prints of original non-photo artwork (created in other programs and saved as a tiff) right through the software that comes with the printer!!

The only aspect of this printer that is less than ideal is that the paper/ink packs are proprietary and not universally available yet, even online (especially the label kind).

Great, but with 1 caveat
Canon's CP-200 and CP-300 printers are really cool compact gadgets. Finally after you take a picture on your digital camera not only can you print it imediatelily but print it anywhere (there's AC outlet). I recommend the 300 model more because it has rechargable battery pack, where-as 200 model doesn't. A big caveat is you need to carry extra ink and paper (and maybe batteries and charger!), so the total travel weight may be much more than you think. Is it worth the money? I think if you take a lot of travel pix yes, considering how photography can win you friends and printing photos for your subjects can, boy, double-win over friends for life. Just be prepared for the extra 4-5 pounds for the entire travel package.

Print quality is only 300dpi but good. It's slow, but the colors are well toned. Finally my cat ...... looks her natural color (brownish gray) on paper... No previous HP printers did her beautiful coat justice.

These pair of printers work with almost all major brand digital cameras: Canon, Minolta, Nikon, Panasonic, Pentax, Sanyo, Sony, Toshiba, HP, Kodak, Polaroid, etc. Will NOT work with lesser brands like SiPx, Targus, Samsung, Picty, etc. because they don't support the technology.

    CANON CP-200
I HAVE HAD THE CANON CP-200 FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS TO GO ALONG WITH MY CANON S400. THE PHOTO QUALITY IS VERY GOOD, BETTER THAN ANY INKJET PHOTO PRINTERS I'VE SEEN. THE DYE SUBLIMATION GIVES THE PHOTO A CLEAR, CRISP PICTURE THAT IS SMOOTH NEVER PIXELATED LIKE THE INKJET PHOTOS. THE QUALITY IS VERY CLOSE TO 35 MM FILM CAMERAS BUT NOT AS GOOD. IT IS CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ME TO GIVE UP THE FILM CAMERA FOR DIGITAL PHOTOS AND AGAIN IT IS MUCH BETTER THAN THE INKJETS.

THE OPERATION IS SIMPLE IF YOU JUST WANT TO HOOK UP YOUR CAMERA DIRECTLY. IT IS A BIT MORE DIFFICULT TO USE THE INCLUDED SOFTWARE BECAUSE I HAD TO USE MY OWN PHOTO SOFTWARE TO EDIT THE PHOTOS AND THEN SEND THEM BACK TO THE CANON SOFTWARE TO PRINT. HOWEVER ONCE YOU ARE ABLE TO DO THAT THE CANON SOFTWARE EASILY GUIDES YOU THROUGH THE PRINT PROCESS. THE PAPER AND CARTRIDGE, SOLD TOGETHER ONLY, CAN BE BOUGHT AT ANY STORE(BEST BUY,CIRCUITCITY,OFFICE DEPOT,ETC.) FOR ABOUT 19.99 FOR 36 PICS. THE CARTRIDGE IS MADE EXACTLY FOR 36 PICS. THAT COMES TO ABOUT 55CENTS A PICTURE WHICH IS A BIT PRICEY COMPARED TO BRINGING YOUR MEMORY CARD IN TO GET DEVELOPED FOR ABOUT 29-39 CENTS A PHOTO. BUT IT PROVIDES CONVENIENCE AND THE ABILITY TO EDIT YOUR PHOTOS WHICH I FIND TO BE IMPORTANT.

THE USB CABLE TO CONNECT THE PRINTER TO YOUR COMPUTER IS NOT INCLUDED SO YOU MAY WANT TO GET ONE. THE ONLY OTHER THING IS THE PHOTOS ARE NOT ACTUALLY 4 X 6 AFTER PRINTING AND TEARING OF THE TABS BUT THEY ARE 4 X 5 7/8. NOT A HUGE DIFFERENCE BUT NOTICEABLE NONETHELESS. ALL IN ALL I HAVE ENJOYED THE QUALITY AND CONVENIENCE OF THE PRINTER AND WOULD PURCHASE IT AGAIN. I DO FEEL THE PRICE OF THE PRINTER AND ESPECIALLY THE PAPER PACK SHOULD BE A BIT LOWER. I PAID $165 FOR THE PRINTER.

    Nice Prints But.....
I just bought the CP-200 to go with my S50 camera. Setting it up was very easy when it came to the camera and printer working together, haven't yet tried it with my computer. Because I do TRUE Dye Sublimation, I thought this printer was also going to allow me to do transfers, not so. I'm a tad bit disappointed that you have to buy SPECIAL paper for this printer. No where does it tell you this. This will mean that you will always have to carry a lot of extra stuff with you if you want to be able to print while on the road etc. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep this printer or buy the HP ink jet printer. The one good thing is with this printer your pics will last a lot longer then a ink jet.

    convenience vs. price
so what if you pay a little more for the prints?!! i usually have get togethers on the weekends and for the convenience of sending a photo home with my guests, it sure is worth it!! my guests don't have to wait UNTIL to receive a copy of the photos taken!! for just regular prints, i take in for developing, cd, or connect my canon powershot to the computer and print there. the manual says that an ink cartridge must be replaced with each new pack of paper. so, i plan ahead. people, quit complaining about a simple inconvenience!! we live in america, do you really have anything legitimate to complain about?? but i digress. this little printer is sure handy dandy!! i received both for my bday!! ( we upgraded technologically this year ) VERY COOL!! LOVE IT!! have had no trouble whatsoever!! ENJOY!!!!

connector incompatible with PC USB port
Print quality is good. But the cables come with printer can only connect to Canon digital cameras (I tried poershot and EOS 10D), it cannot connect to PC UBS ports, though it looks like UBS connector. So, there is no way you can print a picture to cp-x00 from a PC.
Anybody there know a way to print from a PC?

    Great picture quality!
I have been very pleased with this printer. So long as your resolution is set very high on your camera your pictures will be as good as lab quality!

The only downside is it does not come with a disk to run this printer with your computer or the cable needed. You have to buy it directly from Cannon. Also I have had a few pictures come out with very faint lines or dots.

I would purchase this printer again if I had to make the decision for a second time.

    Excellent Quality Photos
This is an excellent little printer. The quality of the images produced is great. Just as good as traditional film developed photos. It's easy to setup & use either directly from my camcorder or via my computers(with the appropriate accessory CCK-CP200). This is my first experience with a dye sublimation printer & I can tell you the quality of the images produced far surpasses most inkjet printers. The only drawbacks about this printer is it only prints small sizes 4 x 6's & Wallet size 2 x 3's. There is a 3.5" x 5" size but its only available overseas. The paper/ink packs are not easy to find other than online & their not cheap. 36 - 4" x 6" prints will run about [money], Wallets about [money]. Overall however this is a great printer which I enjoy using.

    Canon Abandons Its Customers
I bought the larger Canon CD-300 printer less than a year ago for $400. Now, Canon says they will not create an XP driver for it. That is an extremely poor customer server. Anyone making PC-compatible hardware has to be prepared to support it for a reasonable period after they stop selling it. Canon promotes their printers as Microsoft Windows compatible, but the CD-300 doesn't run on the only version of Windows that Microsoft is selling! That is deceptive. I own a Canon digital SLR and digital SureShot. Because of this clear example of how little they care about their customers, they are the last Canon products I will purchase. Today, instead of buying photo paper for my defunct Canon CD-300, I bought the Sony DPP-SV77. It's a great little printer with a pop-up display for much less than the Canon... and Sony has great customer service!

    Novelty
Before purchasing this item, be sure you know what you're getting (I was unfortunately hasty). It's cute and tiny, to be sure, but so are its photos--the size of a credit card. And they're not cheap. The Canon CP-100 is slightly larger but for the extra "O" you're getting newer technology and a printer that offers photos of four different sizes.

A nice little printer that does all it is advertised
The CP-10 is a great little printer that prints a outstanding quality wallet photo without a hitch. The difference between bordered and borderless prints is that borderless prints a somewhat zoomed version of what your image display window shows so you may experience "head chopping" unless you learn to frame your shots with a little more border around objects. You must be very careful when loading paper so as not to touch the printing surface or a finger print will show up in the finished product. I was surprised at how much detail can be had on a credit card sized photo and find this to be a nice alternative to printing larger more costly images when this size will produce a compact result that serves many purposes. Portability is the key here and I use this with a powershot S110 so in two pockets you have a complete photo system on the go. With optional 12 volt auto adapter you can have instant mobile prints. It does not interface with a PC so you must print direct from digicam making a larger capacity media card a good addition if shooting away from the printer.
