      Better performance than one might think
      While some have been disappointed with the optical performance of this camera, they may not have given it a fair test. With a lens that zooms from 38 to 105mm AND a small-diameter lens, the 1/f number runs from 4.0 to 10.9 as the focal length increases. Therefore, plunking in a roll of your favorite 64 or 100 ASA film will lead to S L O W shutter speeds in dim light, which will soften the photograph unless a tripod is used. I've found that using high speed film and/or a tripod in dim light will give excellent images. The lens really is excellent but slow shutter speeds can vitiate its imaging ability.

      Its exposure calculation is excellent, giving perfectly exposed slides --- amazingly good for a point and shoot camera.

      As with many P&S zoom film cameras, the moving of the lens in and out is sometimes annoying. I wish it had internal focusing.

      Top Notch
      After using the lecia 10x25bca's while birdwatching in Central America I decided to move up a notch and try the duovid's. After seeing guides use the russian optics I was hesitate to purchase these. But what a difference!!!! These are as bright as any bino's I've used. The quality is top notch. The engineering is very user friendly. A bit heavy compared to the 10X25's but you get two magnification's for the price of one. Great for use at low light situations (dawn till dusk). The manual suggests WATERPROOF to 8 meters but swimming with the Duovid's is not of my list of things to do.

      A Superb Companion To Leica's Full-Sized Binoculars
      I recently purchased Leica's slightly smaller Trinovid 8x20 BC binoculars as a companion to my full-sized Trinovid 10x42bn binoculars.

      The superb features - in terms of size, weight, clarity, resolution and brightness - of Leica's compact binoculars (the 8x20 BCs as well as the 10x25 BCs) make it the perfect choice for a casual day at the beach, zoo, sporting events, theatre, holiday travel, etc. And a comparison with other compact bino brands - including my old Bausch & Lombs and Bushnells - will convincingly demonstrate why Leica's compact Trinovid Series are truly well worth the price.
