INCOMPATIBLE, INCOMPATIBLE, INCOMPATIBLE! Ugh!See the excellent review below which lists the pitiful handful of Sigma lenses that this teleconverter is compatible with. I wish I'd read it before I ordered it (I had to return it after opening it, the list is only INSIDE the booklet*). I have several wonderful Sigma lenses, but none are on that list, and the ones on that list would duplicate what I have, so I have no intention of bying one of the few lenses this teleconverter could work with. *Also inside the booklet is a warning that trying to use the lens with any lens not on the list may damage both the converter and the lens. Well, yeah, a quick glance shows that they used the standard connecting bayonet at only one end (the camera end) and used some strange lens-specific screw mount at the other end. And the possible reason: My Nikon camera body has plenty of space behind the bayonet mount in case the lens needs to extand back a little, but this teleconverter extends FORWARD beyond its front so only a lens with plenty of space "in front of" the bayonet mount (ie, at the lens' camera end) would be able to mate with this. So it looks like they have to specially design lenses just to be compatible with this odd teleconverter, and that would explain why the list is so short.
Buyer Beware! This converter not only work only on Sigma Lenses - BUT CERTAIN SIGMA LENSES!
The converter will work in MF mode only, unless noted, on the following APO lenses:
Macro 180mm f3.5 EX IF HSM
300mm F2.8
300mm F2.8 EX HSM (AF)
Tele Macro 300mm F4
Tele Macro 400 F5.6
500mm F4.5
500mm f4.5 EX HSM
800 F5.6
800 F5.6 EX HSM
1000mm F8
50-500mm F4-6.3 EX RF HSM
70-200mm F2.8 EX HSM (AF)
70-210mm F2.8
This has really turned me off from Sigma, as this IMPORTANT information is NOT listed anywhere!
Great teleconverter. This 2X teleconverter is a great addition to any fast Sigma lens. I use mine with my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM. It is sharp, well made, and a relative bargain. I recently used it to shoot at Road Atlanta and was very impressed with the results.
Of course, it is not designed to use with Nikon lenses, only Sigma lenses on Nikon bodies! And that job it does very well.

THE BEST IN THE PRICE RANGEI'm photographing wildlife as a hobby for about 6 years now and before this lens I used the regular 70-300 zoom lens and due to budget I could'nt buy any of the brand's telephotos until I found this lens ,at first I was suspicious because it seems too cheap for a 500mm lens but this was before I received my first photos and transparencies from the lab because it turned out to be way better than I could ever imagine, the photos were great, very nice color and contrast, not to mention the depth of field of a telephoto which is very shallow and makes the main object very strong ,the image comes with a very nice blurred background and a very shrp main objects ,image wise this lens is very good (not only for the price range )and the only drawback is the slow auto focus . Anyway, this lens forces the use of a sturdy tripod so you should take it in account. after about a year with this lens I can say that I'm more than satisfied ,there is no match for it in the price range

You'll never buy anything but a Sigma HSM lens again! This is was my thrid Sigma EX HSM lens. While I've had other Sigma lens I purchased them mostly for the price. The quality was OK/acceptable. But these EX HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) lens are the finest quality lens I've ever put my hands on! They are mostly metal vs mostly plastic. They are smooth as silk and extremely FAST focus. They seem not to seach back and forth as much for the focal point--they lock on almost immediately. This lens makes brilliant true color shots and works great with my Nikon D100. With the digital camera 1.4x factor this lens is like having a 24-50 on a film camera. While with telephoto lens this is like getting extra lens for free--with wide angles you loose a bit. But that is the camera's fault not the lens. The lens comes with a beautiful case and a high-tech lens shade. You'll never buy anything but a Sigma HSM lens again. Too bad they don't make the HSM for all their models.

Great lensI found that Sigma 15 mm & 20 mm lenses great. Put on my Nikon D100, I can always take picture on every light condition. Especially in shady places where I set the ASA 800 - 1000, this would create a wide depth of field.
I don't see any setback in Sigma 15 & 20 mmm lens.
