Pass it by.
I found this housing useful for shooting photos and video at the beach. However the latch seems weak and has already broken once on me, and since damage isn't covered under warranty you'll be out some cash.

The Main Problems:
You can't turn off and on the LCD without opening the unit which runs down the battery.
The lens fogs up after about 45 minutes of use in and out of water.

Love my MPK-P9 !! Why did Sony change camera models??
I love my MPK-P9. I use it with my DSC-P9 when snorkeling and it works GREAT!! It is easy to use the LCD viewer once you get accustomed to the light under water. I have only one concern: Sony changed camera models and now this underwater case is basically obsolete. If I have trouble or need replacement parts, I'm out of luck!!

Best accessory ever
I was a little skeptical about putting my $500+ digital camera in one of these marine packs. I actually own the Cybershot P1 version, but my fears were unfounded as long as you follow the instructions.
The marine pack comes with a grease for the O-ring (yes, everything depends on the O-ring working) and the O-Ring. With the edge of a business card, the O-Ring comes out of its seat and can be cleaned, I use a lint-free paper, like lens paper. Then the grease is applied (I put it on the tips of two fingers and work the O-ring through to grease all sides). The O-ring is then placed back into its channel. With the camera inside (the pain is you have to take off the carrying strap each time you use it), then the pack is locked down (can't be opened without a second button moved) and the O-ring seals the back of the unit against the frame.
I have gone down to 50 feet without any problem and used in the open ocean as well as in the reefs (great in the pool too). Once you are a couple feet into the water, don't forget to use your flash.
After a three-week trip to Aruba we brought back 700+Mgs of pictures (dumping them into the laptop daily). If the picture color seems off a little (dull, washed out), use the Sony Picture Gear software that comes with the camera and use the Filter - Color Balance Adjustment. It will greatly enhance your photographs and give you eye-popping pictures.
It is always important to clean and re-grease the O-ring before every dive. It is smart to pickup an extra O-ring for [cheap] so your trip won't be spoiled if your O-ring is damaged.

    Good for the price.
This tape is great! Don't let the price fool you. If you think that this looks cheap compared to some and won't work well, that's not correct. It cleans the video heads in a dry cleaning format very well. The reason i took 1 stars off is because you can only use the tape twice, which probably explains the cheap price, and because the tape is overpriced compared to other retailers selling it on the market on line.

      pretty good stuff.
I bought this kind of cassettes for my DCRTRV38 MiniDV 1Megapixel Camcorder. It is pretty good quality. The price is in pretty much
the same as Maxwell in Sam's Club.

        Micro Vault 128 on WinXP & Win2K
The Sony Micro Vault 128 is not recognized by Windows. Even on a fully patched OS including the current BIOS. The Micro Vault
locks up the machine when there is another USB device present.

The worst part is that Sony's Customer Support line was incapable of solving the problem and requires that the end-user
obtain a refund from the merchant. I spent in excess of 2 hours with Sony representatives with the end result being "You must use the root hub ports on the back of the Systems Unit". For a USB device, this is impracticle. In addition, the Sony Help Line did not even know how to support the product. I was transferred 5 times or had to re-dial another support group.

Sony products are not of the same quality they were a few years ago!

        Perfect product for me!!
This is perfect! I provide software training to corporate customers and I got this because I had to travel to different locations and use a variety of computers. The Micro Vault provided me with an ideal way to carry both my personal and class files everywhere I went.

On another job, the company provided me with a laptop computer, but in order to keep it light weight there was no CD or floppy. I could keep my personal files on the Micro Vault and not have to worry about cleaning them off the customer's computer before returning it. And unlike a CD, this little sucker lets you read AND write.

One reason I went with the Sony even though it's a bit more expensive is that any computer running Windows 2000 and above will recognize it immediately with no additional files required for the driver installation. The few times I have encountered a Windows 98 machine it was an easy task to connect to the Sony site and download the driver.

Even here at home I use the Micro Vault to keep my journal, bookmarks, and password files so I can use them at both my desktop and laptop. I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to a larger size for home use.

It also has a huge "wow factor" and gets attention everywhere I go. IT guys go insane over it. I've taught classes where students went right back to their desks and logged on to Amazon to order one during the break. They really like the fact that they can take big files home from work and update them on the weekend.

I've had this little goodie since December 2002 and I can't think of a single negative thing to say about it.

        Very tough little device
Two weeks after getting my Sony vault, I accidently put the thing through an entire clothes wash cycle (no bleach). Finding it soggy at the bottom of the drum, I figured it was totally trashed. I stuck it into my laptop's usb and WOW it still worked. A few days later the glue gave out, but I put a little epoxy on it and it is fine. I hot swap it between Windows XP, 98Se and W2K without any problems. No complaints, I would buy another.

          Absolutely the Best!!!
This saves time and battery life. Use it over again and again- just like a floppy disk drive. Buy Sony original products and you'll be safe- don't save a few pennies by buying generics, you get what you pay for. Recommendation: Strong Buy
