I bought this rip off. It's nearly imposible to attach to the DSC-F828. And then comes the surprise, it doesn't come with strap or the little attachment that carries memory sticks ect. Very disapointed.

The case is a useful device as it enables you to use the camera and then easily tuck it away into its case, with a minimum of fuss.

Because of its snug fit, there is no room for additional accessories such as a spare battery or a CF card. Sony also sells a larger strap which incorporates a small pouch to fit such items into.

It is advertised as fitting the camera with its hood mounted. I must confess to being unable to achieve this -- perhaps because the case is new, it may stretch slightly over time. However, the hood does reverse and fit onto the lens enabling it to fit into the case.

Sony has thought of everything -- the camera is probably the most intelligently designed (and beautifully built) cameras on the market today.

If you are one of those that travels with everything, then a dedicated camera and accessory case is probably more for you. However, given the design of this case, it could easily fit into a larger bag, enabling a day trip with camera only with some protection. One other downside, is that you will need to remove the bottom part of the case (which separates and attaches to the base of the camera) to charge the battery, as that section of the case prevents access to the power charging port at the rear of the camera.

I give it four and a half stars.

I am very disappointed with this case. It is a very close fitting wraparound two piece case. It has five snap buttons that need to be aligned and snapped together to close it. It is rather difficult to push the camera into the long sleeve and keep it aligned so the snap buttons line up for closure. It usually takes me a few tries to get it right.

If you have the camera in this case and a quick photo opportunity appears, forget it. By the time you get the camera out of this case, the opportunity will be long gone.

Once the long sleeve is off, you can use the camera with the lower part still attached, as long as you don't need to change the memory card or the battery. To open the door that covers these, you need to manouver the leather piece around the neckstrap boss out of the way before it opens. If you want to plug the AC adapter in, you will have to completely remove the lower part of the case, as it covers up the opening for the AC adapter plug.

On top of all that, it has no place to store any accessories, not even a miniscule memory stick. Any self respecting owner will have an extra memory card and a spare battery along, wherever he goes. It would be good to have a place for those in the camera case.

It does what it is designed to do so in that sense it's a 5-star case. Beyond that it's quite poorly designed. You shouldn't have to have a Ph.D in structral engineering to put a camera in a case. The button closure system here is ridiculously over engineered. You will actually have to practice putting your camera in this case.

And as for taking it out quickly to get a shot ... well, good luck.

This camera is definately for the serious photographer. Well worth the extra $ for quality in pictures. Surprised by the color quality and detail clearness in close range. Easy to hold and balance. Eyepiece and screen veiwers let the user choose what they prefer in taking pictures. Alot of options. Had this camera two months, and still learning how to use the options.
Very thrilled to have this camera.

Excellent case, soft, protects the camera. But it is a little to big for my model, the Cybershot DSCP8. The camera bounces in the inside.

Maybe it's the camera, that is to small?

When I pulled it out of the Amazon box, I thought it might be too small for the V1, but I like the fit! Its compact size works great with one of the best new generation 5MP digital still cameras. I like how the fabric gussets on the sides of the main compartment only allow it to open far enough for camera access(nice on the belt). Its smaller front compartment has both a regular pocket and another facing compartment with a full length zippered close. Both are made from that net type material. Very slick, functional design from Sony.

I ordered this case as an international customer and had it delivered to a hotel in the USA where my family was staying so I couldn't go to a store to see in person how the case looks. The case is advertised as a general carrying case for the P-series (P72, P92, P10) and it has the round edge just like the P-series. Since the P-series is a bit smaller than the SONY DSC V1, I was scared that my V1 wouldn't fit into the case. I received both the case and the camera yesterday and I am extremely pleased. The camera fits like a glove and there is enough space to put in a few extra things such as batteries or memory sticks in the front. I was also scared it would have a cheap look to it, seeing as it is only $... It actually looks really stylish and I would definitely recommend it to anyone with either a P-series or V1 CyberShot.
