So this is a great starter lens, it came with my canon body when I got my camera, and I've used it tons. It is light, smooth, fast to focus, and cheap. My only problem was the number of times I found myself stepping back because the 35mm end of the zoom wasn't wide enough. I now carry a 22-55 instead and love that lens (come on Amazon - get it in stock). If you're on a budget then this lens is great. If you can afford the little extra go for the 28-80 instead.

The Canon EOS series has made picture taking accessable to the average person. One can truly take top quality pictures with this camera with minimal training. This is the basic lens that one will need for everday photography. With it one can shoot anywhere from midrange shots up to a 80mm zoom. Pick this up with a 80mm-300mm zoom lens and you are set for any photo adventure. The quality is great and you can rest assured that it will last for years.

I, like most people, got this lens when buying a kit. Unlike one review, I found this lens to have excellent optics. While not quite like a Nikon lens, the quality of pictures the lens produces is more than enough for most users. For the past 4 years, I have thouroughly enjoyed using it. Unfortunately, something is not ligning up on the connections between the lens and the camera body and the camera is unable to read/set the aperture on the lens, therebye making it impossible to take pictures. I have used other lenses on the body, and they work fine, so I'm assuming it is a problem with the lens. Consider paying a little more when buying a lens... in the long run, it might save you money.

I have a 20x30 poster of some cliffs in Ireland hanging in my living room because the picture quality was too great to not enlarge! This lens gives you great versitility and the quality is great for the average person.

This entry level canon lens is an optical marvel that will enable anyone to shoot professional-quality photographs. The quality of the photos i have taken are great, and i'm really happy with the pics. Huge Resolutions, a good printer, and a decent overall effect.

I would say though, that for 60-90 bucks you should get this only if you plan to use it... (ie: Flower Close-ups, wilderness photos of small items etc...)

Singlet magnifying lenses for cameras in diameters like this used to cost little more than skylight filters of like quality. It seems that as machines have become more elaborate their users have become more gullible, even about childishly simple things like the value of a ten dollar closeup lens.
