Not really a review, but a caution
There isn't enough info for this item and it's really my fault that I didn't do enough research on this item, but recommendation information for this lens adapter might suggest that it can be used with the G3. It's absolutely wrong -- the right lens adapter is LA-DC58B. The appended "B" is important! Be sure that if you're buying the G3 or G5 and need the adapter that you get that one instead.

As such, I'm sure this lens adapter works fine on the G1 and G2, but I can't be totally sure of this, having not used it.

Works as expected - wrong color for the G5
I am the proud owner of a Canon Powershot G5, and I bought this Adapter to be able to use my 58mm Circular Polarizing filter. It works well for that purpose.

Now for some facts about the adapter:
* It is made to enable you to use 58mm filters, Macro-, Tele- or Wide-angle converter on your G3 or G5 (and it is also required for these).
* It will not work with your G1 or G2.
* People seem to be getting this wrong all the time: The LA-DC58 is only for the G1, G2, and this adapter (LA-DC58B) is only for the G3 and G5.

Pros:
* Quite durable - Hard plastic that has so far taken quite a pounding, and basically not a single chip or scratch.
* Works fine with any 58mm filter
* It is lightweight, so it will not weight your camera down. Of course, anything you put on the adapter is likely to be quite heavy.

Cons:
* The color - It is silver, something that matches the G3 in color, but since the G5 is black - it really doesn't look that nice on the G5.
* The shape - It is in the way of the flash on wide-angle view on the G3/G5. You can still use the flash unobstructed when you zoom a bit - probably to around 2x zoom.

Conclusion: It does what it is supposed to do, but Canon really should have taken the time to give you the choice between a G3 colored and a G5 colored. There is also the issue of the converter partly blocking the flash. It is still a necessary piece of equipment if you want to use a Tele or Wide-angle converter, or a 58mm filter on your Canon Powershot G3 or G5. It's a good piece of equipment, but due to its obvious drawbacks, I can only give it 3 stars!!!

Fast Shipping but Wrong Product
I have never received a product in such a timely manner, however it was too good to be true. They sent me the wrong product. I have a Canon Powershot G2 and I order the LA-DC58 adapter, however the sent me the LA-DC58B adapter which is for the Canon Powershot G3 camera. If they would have sent me the correct item or the correct replacement then I would have definitely purchased from them again. Hopefully, I will get a email back with some good news.

        Useful but PLASTIC
This Canon-made plastic gadget obviously lets the photographer mount filters and accessory lenses to some A series cameras. The plastic is thin and flimsy feeling. Other suppliers make the same gizmo for the same models out of metal for about the same price. It would be nice to see Amazon carrying them, but I got mine at a local photo shop.

        good idea canon ole bud
I bought a Canon Powershot A70. They say your best camera is the one you use most, and man I use it. I'm a high schooler, so I dont have much money, but with the A70, I can attach this adapter (LA-DC52C) to my camera, and I can have more photographic freedom with lenses, for alot less money. YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS ADAPTER FIRST. Then any lense which fits (most), can be used... GOOD IDEA CANON!!!!

        best price with free shipping
Can't beat the price and service...I received via free shipping in 4 days for a great price.

        Great product!
This comes highly recommended. However, print your most important pictures at the beginning of the cartridge, because as it runs down, the picture quality decreases.

        Awesome print quality
Pictures turn out very well so long as your camera is set on a high resolution.

cp-200, much more than I expected
I bought it with what I thought were optimistic expectations, and was VERY surprised at how much more I got than I expected.

The print quality is AMAZING, even under a magnifying glass.. they are exactly like a photo... better than my Epson Stylus Pro 1280, but only 4" x 6".

My wife is crazy about it so it's a keeper.

        Great picture quality
Be sure to set your resolution high on your camera and you cam expect photo lab quality images!

Canon HC4100 Lockable Hard Case for GL1/GL2
        Made by Canon
          Amazon base price: $274.94
          Average review score:

          Beautiful but fatally flawed.
This case is sexy and very professional-looking. It is obviously rugged and well-constructed. But just a few minutes ago, the shoulder strap slipped through the hitch system, and the case (and expensive camera therein) slammed onto the pavement.

When I first got this case, I had noticed the ridiculous attachment of the strap (relies on friction, expecting slippery nylon webbing to grip to itself... stupid) and wondered if I should do something about it.

Other complaints - the "swivels" that connect the strap to the box - don't swivel. So the strap gets all munged up and twisted. Very annoying.

Lastly, with a quick-release tripod plate (Bogen/Manfrotto in my case) left on the camera - the case won't close! STUPID. Even a thinner plate (not that I've seen one) wouldn't work - the fit is so designed. Maybe carving out one of the rigid foam supports in the lid will fix this.

Anyway - I think you'd be better off cutting custom foam for an excellent Pelican case (also readily available on Amazon.com).

The Canon case is a very pretty thing, and will give your rig a very professional look, if that's most important to you. But a Pelican would likely survive a drop out of a car on the freeway... no way this thing would.

Basic and as inexpensive as they get
Unfortunately, if you need a ruggedized case, this is as inexpensive as they come. If you want a truly ruggedized case for professional use, this is not it. If you use a quick release tripod attachment the camera does not fit in the case.
It is quite effective for storing all of your cabling, power supply, tapes, and a few other accessories. And, let's face it, if you shelled out for the GL-2 you are going to want to protect it.
If you truly need a well protected camera and intend to use a Bogen quick release mount, and are lugging this thing all over heck and back, get a custom cut case. Otherwise, this is a great deal at the price, and very sexy.
