Works pretty good, but could use a focus lens....
I would give this little camera 5 stars... but since there's no way to set the focus on this camera, I can only give it 4 stars. It works pretty good. Windows XP detected it immediately, but for some reason, Microsoft feels that it's not up to par to work with their XP O/S and warns you that it's unsupported. Well MS... it works just fine for me. Even came with some pretty nice software as well. For the price, I would recommend it for a cheap webcam/digital camera. :o)

      Very Nice!
This camera is versatile and easy to use. It has a timer and three different settings for you to use. It's small and can fit in a little bag/purse. I take mine everywhere!

Great, affordable camera & web camera
I am very happy with this camera. It functions as a still digital camera, good for basic photos and internet use. Keep in mind it is not a high end digital camera, but you can't expect that at this price. It also functions as a web camera for conferencing, etc. Comes with great software and is very easy to use. Thumbs way up!

        my experience with this webcam
        (...)Here are my comments:
        The Good:
        1. The color is very vivid compared to the 3-year old Creative webcam I had before.
        2. Can be cliped on the laptop. The clipping mechnisim is very simple, and it worked for my laptop (a Dell Inspiron).

        The bad:
        1. Since the base of the camera also serves as the clip, it's very very light (just two piece of plastic), so sometimes it has trouble staying put.
        2. On Windows XP, I had trouble with the control application that comes with the webcam (the application that let you take snap shots, take the video, etc). Upon exit of the application, the program crashes. However, I didn't experience any problem with the driver, so the cam works fine with Yahoo and MSN messenger on XP. I don't know if this has anything to do with an earlier version of the Creative application (for my old webcam). I ended up uninstall the old program but haven't had the chance to re-install the new one yet. So I don't know if this problem will go away. I checked Creative's website, there is no software patch available. I didn't have this problem with Win 2000.
        3. Had a minor problem when used on my Win2000 machine which has a 4 port D-Link USB hub. When attached to one of the port, it complained serveral times about not enough bus bandwidth. I switched to a different port and the problem seemed go away.
        4. Performance under low light condition is somewhat below my expectation.

In general, this is a so-so camera. Not as good as advertised, but then what do you expect from 59 or 79 dollars?

AipTek is more value for money
I use the Aiptek HyperVcam Mobile and Creative EX Pro. The price is about 30% difference with Aiptek the cheaper one.

Creative is better at still pictures. However, the software that comes with it will show you a different picture during preview from the one it actually captures. e.g. The preview is darker but the actual saved picture looks okay.

Aiptek captures a poorer still picture but it is WYSIWYG and it has auto-focus.

The video for these 2 cameras looks the same to me. But for the difference in price, I rate Aiptek as value for money.

        Creative Labs WebCam Pro eX
I recently purchased a WebCam Pro eX. It's the first web cam I've ever used or owned. I don't know of any others since I haven't used them. Some observations:

Pro: Good picture quality in adequatly lit conditions. CCD sensor. People on the other side of the ocean have told me that this web cam gives has good picture quality, but needs proper lighting source. Good Color quality. User can adjust brightness, saturation and contrast levels in accordance to the time of day. Software provided is easy to use. Comes with a microphone. Has a wide choice of resolutions - up to 1024 x 768. Works extremely well with Windows 2000. I don't use Windows XP, nor do I have any desire to upgrade to it, due to hardware compatibility problems this operating system has, and problems in general. If people have problems with this webcam using XP, it isn't because Creative produces poor drivers or a bad product, it's just that XP (Home or Pro) isn't a very good operating system. It's a poor O/S overall and I've had nothing but problems using it.

Cons: No digital zoom. It's difficult to save compressed Windows Media Player files with low frames rates without encountering problems with video and voice synchronization. Perhaps someone can tell me how to correct this problem. Picture quality degrades under poorly lit conditions. Camera requires a secondary light source. Micorphone is so-so. I use another headset instead.

        Not worth even 5 dollars
For twenty dollars, I'd expect the item to work at least more than a week. Seriously, invest in some other product. I returned this item; a new one was sent. The second one broke in less time than the first. Seriously negative recommendation? Yes.
Amazon was really great about getting the merchandise replaced though. 5 stars for Amazon. Negative stars for this product.

        Don't
Once you get this camera your going to wish you spent the extra money to pay for real camera. It takes good pictures out side and terrible pictures inside, it doesn't have a flash so don't expect to see anything. After I got this camera I bought the Kodak EasyShare CX6200. Which is a better camera and just about 50 bucks more. So spend the extra dough and get a better camera. You'll be disappointed when you get it. Basically you get what you paid for 26 bucks for a digital camera, Come on Get Real

        Useful, Small, Overall Good
I have to say the camera works great, if you know how to use it. In answer to those who say that the pics were not of high enough resolution, use a higher resolution. This camera is so small you can carry it in your pocket, without having a bulging huge looking pocket. It has a good battery life and overall may not be as good as the other cameras, but for it's price, and size, it is reasonable.

        Thin, but not too good!
This camera take good pictures only in sunlight! Otherwise, without light, with artificial light it is so poor, so blur! I've got a create pc-cam 300 with 640x480 resolution and it's better better than cardcam.
So, with almost sixty dollars I recomend you buy another one! Try philips key, it has low resolution but you can store almost 1600 photos!!!
        Good look!!!

        Built-in RAM is not 64MB
I think is a good product but in features the Built-in RAM is 8 MB

        awesome portable
This camera fits in my wallet and takes great pictures!

        awful camera
I bought this camera for the price and the features but... the quality in pictures taken were very poor included the phtos taken at maximun quality. the camera needs too much light in web cam mode. in this case Creative pc-cam 880 is awful. the controls are complicated and the cursor wheel doesn't works fine. i prefer the simplicity and easy to use controls in my hp photosmart. bye and if you buy this is under your risk

not as clear Pictures as my pc-cam600
Well i just got the pc-cam880 and it should be better then the 600 but that's not so the picture's i took with this cam is just not as good and clear as the pc-cam600 so i'm thinking about returning this pc-cam880.

        AWESOME CAMERA
I jus bought ths cam frm AMAZON , at first before ordering it i did some reseach on PC cameras and stuff since it was my first camers i needed it to be atleast worth for my money , i red all the reviews abt ths camera on amazon majority of reviews were against ths product , but i crossed my fingers and ordered ths camera , wen it got to me i first i red the full manual of opeation den i installed it , WHEN I SAW THE RESULT IT WAS SIMPLY MIND BLOWING FOR ME it can take upto 17 pictures in 3.0 Mega Pixel and the clarity and sharpness is amazing even in the 800 by 600 resoultion, after seeing the result i was quite shoked at first cuz the previews i red abt it were all against ths producrt , flash works really well in bad light and if used as a webcam its worth for its price , but the pictures taken it as a DIGI CAM simpy stand out , zoom is also very good the only thing i didnt lik abt ths camera is tht its functions are a but cramped up lik if u press sum button others can be pressed at the same time result in LOL anything ,
BUT ALL IN ALL A GREAT CAMERA FOR THE FIRST TIME USERS . U can mail ur querys at devil4k@yahoo.com
